make:chocolate boxes

To finish of the Valentine's Day boxes we were making with the Junior Guides last week, we melted some chocolate (in the microwave) and the girls spooned it into some molds. (We used any molds we had that weren't Christmas themed). Once the chocolate had set in the molds we gently pressed them out and the girls added them to their boxes from last week with some pink tissue paper. The extra chocolates went home in zip lock bags. I think I might be turning into a chocolate snob... this was good while melted, but not so good once it had hardened again. Also, if this wasn't an activity with the Junior Guides the chocolate would have been eaten long before it made it to the molds... there's something about melted chocolate.. mmmmmm.

Also this process tends to make me rethink my perfectionism. I used to find myself wanting to help the girls so their projects would turn out better. However, I resisted this urge and find I am thinking it less and less. We want them to try it themselves, do things they usually wouldn't get to do because someone else can do it faster, easier, neater, etc. In the end I'm often amazed at their creativity and imagination (some days more than others). They come up with the coolest things - things I would never have seen had I offered to help. (Usually once we start helping they just hand over the reigns and have less invested in the final outcome).

Day twelve: make chocolates for someone we like
